Osun 2026: We won’t abandon you after victory, Oyebamiji assures traders

Bola Oyebamiji

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, on Thursday assured that traders would not be abandoned after winning the August 15 governorship poll.

He promised that after his victory, traders irrespective of ethnic, religious and political inclinations would be actively involved in his administration

Speaking at Sabo market in Osogbo, Oyebamiji, who also donated a sum of N10 million to boost commercial activities of the traders, promised to seek active consultation with the traders would be one of the priorities of his government.

He said, “We will consult with market leaders and communities, asking what is happening in Sabo Market, what your needs are, and what government should do. We will not seek your votes and then abandon you after the election. Our government will belong to everyone.

While restating his advice to eligible traders not to sell their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), Oyebamiji maintained that such development amounted to mortgaging their future for peanuts.

I, Munirudeen Oyebamiji, assure you that I will not disappoint you by the grace of God. I urge you to keep your Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and never sell them to anyone. What some people are doing now is buying PVCs indirectly.

“They are inviting young people to local government offices under the pretext of offering appointment letters, collecting their account details and transferring money to them. The money they failed to provide over the past three years is now being used to deceive the people. Do not be deceived, “he advised.

Oyebamiji added that “Secondly to all the traders in this market, just as we told traders at Igbonna Market, every trader will personally feel the impact of our government. You will know that your government truly cares for you.

“We will facilitate grants that you will not be required to repay. There are development partners, including those overseas, that support such programmes, and we will engage them on behalf of our fathers and mothers in the markets because we know you will use the funds responsibly.”

In his remark, the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, Honourable Wole Oke, assured that all promises made by Oyebamiji will be fulfilled.
