…clears 420 candidates for 2027 Poll
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has affirmed former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections and cleared 420 candidates to contest various elective positions across the country.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) announced the decision after reviewing and approving the report of the Primaries Appeal Committee, which examined petitions arising from the party’s primary elections.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Muhammed Ishaq, the PRP said the committee upheld the outcome of the presidential primary, confirming Duke as the validly elected presidential candidate of the party.
“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has, on Friday, June 5, 2026, concluded review of the report of the Primaries Appeal Committee and has approved the report,” the statement said.
“Consequently, former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, is validly elected as the party’s presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.”
According to the party, the appeal committee also upheld four other primary election outcomes.
The statement added that all other candidates who emerged from the party’s primaries had been duly cleared to contest in the forthcoming elections, except in Tarauni Federal Constituency, where the primary election was nullified.
“All other candidates have been duly cleared to contest in the upcoming elections, with the exception of Tarauni Federal Constituency, whose election has been nullified,” it stated.
The PRP said it would field a total of 420 candidates across all positions in the 2027 general elections as part of its commitment to active participation in the electoral process.
The party reiterated its commitment to internal democracy, service to the people and the pursuit of credible and transformative leadership for Nigeria.
