The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday, urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to stop blaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, for his political woes ahead of the August 15, 2026 gubernatorial poll in the state.

It also said that Adeleke’s endorsement of Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election should not be used as an excuse not to prepare for his re-election.

The APC, in a statement by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, while responding to the governor’s concern over alleged non-intervention of the President in the politically motivated arrests, said that Adeleke should face his self-induced challenges and stop the blame-game.

However, the Imole Campaign Council (TICC), yesterday, described as untrue the reported verbal attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State during a campaign rally in Olorunda Local Council of the state on Monday.

The TICC contended that the governor only called the attention of Tinubu to the alleged killings of Accord Party members, indiscriminate arrest and intimidation of his supporters across the state.

A statement by the Director-General of the organisation, Lere Oyewumi, maintained that the call on Tinubu was to ensure enforcement of a free and fair election in the state, saying that the governor never derided the President during his campaign.

In another development, National Secretary of the APC, Surajudeen Ajibola Bashiru, has accused Adeleke of growing increasingly anxious over what he described as his “imminent defeat” in the governorship election.

He said the governor’s repeated warnings about alleged rigging, political violence and insecurity were signs of apprehension over the outcome of the polls.

Bashir, while speaking with reporters at the APC’s national secretariat in Abuja, yesterday, said Adeleke’s recent criticisms of Tinubu and other APC leaders showed that the governor was attempting to shift attention away from his administration’s record.

However, Oyebamiji has pledged to run an inclusive government centred on listening to citizens and addressing their specific needs rather than imposing policies.

Oyebamiji, who spoke during an interactive session with journalists, stressed that the welfare and security of the people would remain the top priorities of his administration, while every other consideration would be secondary.

He said that different segments of the society, including artisans, civil servants, traders and market women, face distinct challenges that require tailored government interventions.

Meanwhile, the APC Governorship Campaign Council has hinted at a possible probe of Adeleke’s administration over the alleged mismanagement of more than N1 trillion revenue allegedly accrued to the state since he assumed office if he is defeated at the polls.

It also said that Adeleke would be required to account for the management of other funds received by the state, including N2 billion in Federal Government grants reportedly released in 2023 for the procurement of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and N17 billion ecological funds allegedly received in 2024 and 2025.

The APC campaign council dropped the hint in a statement signed by its Director-General, Oluwole Oke, yesterday, while reacting to Adeleke’s recent remarks against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
