Kebbi awards N145m hostel contract

To boost infrastructural capacity in its higher schools, the Kebbi State government has awarded contract worth N145 million for the construction of additional 500 capacity female hostel at the Adamu Augie College of Education Argungu.

To boost infrastructural capacity in its higher schools, the Kebbi State government has awarded contract worth N145 million for the construction of additional 500 capacity female hostel at the Adamu Augie College of Education Argungu.

The State Commissioner of higher education Alhaji Abdullahi Maigari Dakingari made this known at a ministerial briefing organised by the state NUJ in Birnin Kebbi.

He said the construction of new female hostel is as a result of the increase in the number of female students seeking admission in the institution.

He explained further that renovations are ongoing in all the state owned institutions adding that arrangements are on top gear by the state government to rename the state school of Health Technology Jega, and the College of Health Science in order to tap from the Federal Government interventions such as TETFUND.

Maigari said about one N1 billion was spend by the state government for the payment of tuition fees for its students studying in Sudan, India and other tertiary institutions across the country.

In a related development, the state Commissioner for Education Alhaji Mohammed Magawata Aliero has said that a lot of works have been carried out in the both secondary and primary schools across the state to boost learning.
