The African Fashion and Design Week (AFDW) 2022 which commenced yesterday at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos and is themed “Emerging, Inspiring, Ignite” will be concluded today.

Founder of the event, Queengold Daniella Sekibo, said the AFDW started out of the passion to showcase Africa in the most positive light.

“The idea is to feature new designers’ talents and nurture them to stability. It is also to tell our story through the creativity of African designers across the world.”

According to Sekibo, this year’s AFDW is showcasing designers from across Africa and other parts of the world.

“We have supermodels from Africa and the UK and, of course, Nigerian designers. We are showcasing designers across 11 African countries.

“This year makes AFDW 10-years and we are celebrating partners who have stood by us through for the 10 years. Our first runway showcase was in Port Harcourt in Rivers State and we have evolved over the years. From Lagos, we have been to Los Angeles, New York, Nairobi and Accra. We have had the best of designers’ names in the Africa fashion industry showcase on our runway,” she said.
