Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Ash Hamman, has recently claimed that his latest music video for the song, Wahala, is the most expensive video ever shot by a Nigerian. After spending nothing lesser than $296,000 (approx 128 million naira) on the luxury car rentals, police escorts and foreign models, among others, the musician and filmmaker believes that there is indeed substance to his claim.

In a chat with Weekend Beats, he reminisces on the video shoot: “Preparations for Wahala music video shoot had been happening for weeks, The Meydan bridge with the amazing blue lights (Sheikh Mohammed private bridge) in Dubai had been booked out by Immaqul8 entertainment. There was an assortment of luxury cars on display; three Lamborghini Aventador, one Lamborghini Huracan, one Mc Laren, two G wagon G 63 Amg & two Range Rovers. Dubai police escorts, models flown in from Russia, East Africa & Nigeria plus reps from 2 global music & entertainment networks were all on standby and ready to go.

“The crew hardly had any sleep as the shoot began before 7 am and another fee had to be paid to set up and shoot on The Meydan bridge (Sheikh Mohammed private bridge) for the second day as the shoot on the bridge didn’t happen on the first day.

“Finally, the fast cars and driving scenes in the extremely hot Dubai weather, 2 out of the 3 Lamborghini Aventador started overheating because of the weather. They then became makeshift dressing rooms and didn’t appear in the video.

“With all the drama, delay of flight, cancellations, extensions, equipment, cars, yachts, models, security, permission from the Dubai government and lavish spending this video cost roughly  $296,000.”

When asked if all the money and effort were worth it, Ash’s answer was affirmative “Of course it was worth it; we can’t really replace the moments that were captured and we all learnt something.”

Ash Hamman took some time off music, working on the movie dubbed, Seven as the Executive producer and came up with the story. His newest single is dubbed, Crazy Lover and it is currently making waves.
