Vickdance talks plans to move dance storytelling to new heights

Talented Dancer, Chibundu Victor Chisom professionally known as Vickdance has reinstated his plans to keep the fire burning with his storytelling dance skill in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Vickdance, who is one of the most creative dancers in his industry was born on May 19, 2000. He started dancing professionally in 2018 and became famous after he and his younger sisters created a trending video that went viral for DJ Kaywise’s single ‘Highway’ which featured Phyno.

Ever since, there has been no stop for the Abia state born, as he created dance choreographies for top artists in the entertainment industry and also bagged several brand ambassadorship deals.

Speaking on what birthed his storytelling dancing technique, the Lagos-based dancer said, “At a stage in life, I got to realise that it is not just about dancing. If you’re able to interpret how you feel, what the world looks like out there, if you’re able to express yourself, explain the lyrics of the song, then why don’t you just go for it.

“After realising this, the way I was always dancing changed. I worked towards what came into my head and I saw myself being able to tell a story from dancing.

In most of my videos, I make sure I explain how I feel and the lyrics of the song. Most of the experience I had was during the show I was invited for and some few of my videos because the audience is not just waiting to see you dance, they want you to be able to make them connect with you.”

On where he would see himself in the next five years, Vickdance said, “With dedication, consistency and hard work, in the next five years, I’m very sure I’d still be learning more and at the same time telling the upcoming dancers how dance has brought me far.”
