If you know you’ll do almost anything to get smooth, glowing and desirable skin that everyone would admire, then this is for you.

We all know snails, they are mostly eaten by almost everyone but before you wash that slime off the snail, you’ll be surprised at the wonders it can do for your face and skin. We see lots of beauty products like creams, masks, and serums that boast they contain snail essence, secretion or extracts and while this may be up for debate, it’s better you use the original, undiluted version so as to get maximum results.

Snail slime, otherwise known as snail secretion filtrate (SSF) or snail mucin in the beauty world, is naturally created by snails to protect, renew and restore themselves. It has fast become a popular ingredient in skincare, offering great results when used on human skin thereby moisturising the face and keeping it rejuvenated.

Users have revealed that constant use on their hands, face and eye area made it appear softer, smoother and fresher.

Here are some benefits of snail slime for your skin.

It is good for hydration. Snail slime, which is 98 per cent water is excellent for dry skin, which often has wrinkles and fine lines due to dryness. The slime is filtered multiple times to increase its concentration and ensure its purity, thereby exfoliating and hydrating the face.

It is a protection powerhouse. Snail slime contains lots of nutrients like hyaluronic acid, glycoprotein, proteoglycans, and antimicrobial and copper peptides, all of which are commonly used in beauty products and proven to be beneficial for the skin. These elements help to protect the snail’s skin from damage, infection, dryness and UV rays. When you use a serum that includes clinical levels of skin slime, you’re going to see a difference in the overall appearance of your skin within a few days.

It has anti-aging properties. When snails are put under mild stress conditions, they excrete a thick fluid as a means to protect themselves. When concentrated, this snail slime or mucin aids human skin by hydrating, preventing aging and improving wrinkles and scars.

It kills bacteria and blasts acne. Snail slime is full of natural antibiotics so when using products with high concentrations of it, skin clears and remains clear with consistent use. It also has the ability to kill bacteria that live on the skin’s surface causing acne.
