The stakeholders meeting with visiting top officials from FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) heads into its second day today in Abuja.

The meeting, which is expected to set machineries in motion towards the reform of football in Nigeria, started at about 4:30p.m. yesterday in the Federal Capital Territory, with all the invited group of stakeholders given an opportunity to meet with the visiting football officials.

As at the time of this report, both CAF and FIFA had met with State FA Chairmen, the league bodies and the players’ union.

The meeting will continue tomorrow with CAF and FIFA meeting with SWAN and past NFF President and Secretaries.

The Guardian learnt that the FA Chairmen presented an agenda, which both CAF and FIFA are finding difficult to accept.

“The FA Chairmen are pushing for an Interim Committee instead of the Normalisation Committee, and both CAF and FIFA won’t accept it because it is not in football law book,” a source told The Guardian this evening.

“Normalisation Committee is in the Articles, but the FA Chairmen feel uncomfortable with it (Normalisation Committee) because they are of the view that if it scales though, the number of FA Chairmen might be reduced to six from the zones as being pushed by many Nigerians.

According to the source, the campaign for an Interim Committee by the FA Chairmen may meet a brick wall as both CAF and FIFA are not ready to go outside football law.
