Trust women to go for the best and they will never fail you. Starting from November 24, the best women players of the beautiful game will gather at the Ikeja Golf Club to vie for honours in the 2016 Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) Open. And to make it a befitting tournament, the ladies have put the club in a beautiful shape to ensure that every player that comes for the competition will have a funfilled event.

According to the organisers, the Open, which is the first for three years, will feature over 200 golfers from the four (LGAN) zones of the country.

The zones, including North, South East, South West and South South, have concluded their zonal Opens and are now ready to strut their stuff in the national finals.

Among the LGAN champions expected at the event are Amina Wilfred of IBB Club, Abuja, who won Northern Zone Championship recently at the GEJ Golf Club, Air Force Base, Abuja and the Enugu Ladies Open, as well as Rachael Danjuma of Jaji Club, who was champion at the Port Harcourt Open.

Others include Evelyn Oyome, South West number one; Faith Baya, South South champion and Daina Okah, among others.

According to LGAN President, Zulu Omo-Ikerodah, preparations are in top gear to ensure a hitch-free event, which will also have past presidents and lady captains in attendance.

“This is a national Open and much is expected from us, because we are expecting guests from across the federation. This means all logistics must be in place to ensure the guest are comfortable while the Open lasts,” the President said.

She assured that “Participants at the end of the day would be happy being part of the championship. There are good trophies to win and enough for their welfare.”

The competition is flying on the wings of a great combination of sponsors, including Guinness, Cressida, ICMA, Light Label, Dangote, House J, Golf View Hotels, Samsung West Africa and Emirate Airlines, among others.

The president said the event would be wrapped up with raffle draws, which would see winners getting return tickets from Emirate Airlines and other impressive items.
