The Rotary Club of Minimah Estate has installed Sir Adewole Farinu as its second President for the 2026-2027 Rotary Year.

Farinu, who took over from Charter President, Gen. Anthony Onibasa, in his acceptance speech, pledged to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor.

“I am honoured to accept this responsibility. We will serve humanity; we will serve our community; we will uphold the ideals of Rotary,” he said.

According to him, leadership in Rotary is not about position but about service. “It is placing the needs of others before our own and working together to make communities better than we found them.  My administration will focus on service, unity and impact. We will run an inclusive club where every member has a role to play,” Farinu added.

He stated that as humans, the greatest gift anyone gives his or her community is not merely financial assistance but hope, compassion, dignity and opportunities for people to improve their lives.

“This Rotary year, we embrace the vision of ‘Create a Lasting Impact.’ Creating a lasting impact means undertaking projects whose benefits will continue long after we have completed our terms of office. It means investing in people, building healthier communities, supporting education, promoting peace, protecting our environment and empowering families,” he explained.

Farinu said that under his watch, the club shall support maternal and child healthcare through partnership with LASUTH and fellow Rotary Clubs.

“We shall pursue our plan to establish a modern library for a public primary school, creating opportunities for children to discover the joy of reading and learning.”

Also speaking, Onibasa described the past year as one of laying a solid structure for the club. He said the club received its Charter Certificate from Rotary International on June 20, 2025, and he became the Charter President on July 1, with 22 members, in the ‘Unite for Good’ Rotary Year 2025-2026.

“For me and other Charter members of the club, the year was a most impactful and exciting experience in passionate, focused and diverse service to humanity. Starting the year with 22 Charter members, the Club grew to 32 active Rotarians, and six prospective members who are set to join as full Rotarians in this impactful year.

The District Governor, Rotary District 9112, Layi Abidoye, who supervised the installation, urged the new president to keep the spirit of Rotary alive.
