Myrrh
Myrrh represents suffering and death and mourning. This is one thing on earth that Jesus came to taste. Immortality came to taste mortality. Why? Because there was a price to be paid for the debt you and I incurred.
• For all have sinned…

• the wages of sin is death

• The soul that sinneth shall die…

Before Jesus was born, everyone was consumed by that debt and could not ascend to Paradise. But the gift of myrrh represents the hope that this debt will be fully paid on our behalf.

So, Jesus would be dying that we may live and the assurance of that life is His resurrection

“That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

This was the gift He took along to the cross. And even till His dying moment, He kept sharing this gift. He offered it to the thief on His right-hand side of the cross when he reached out for that gift.
Luke 23:40-43

But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost, not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, ‘Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.’

For whosoever will come to the right side of the cross, that gift is still available. This was the gift Jesus took along to the house of Mary and Martha when Lazarus died:

John 11:25-26
Jesus said unto her, ‘I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?’

Jesus received the gift of myrrh so that He could taste the real death (separation from God) on our behalf, so we would never be separated from God in eternity. That gift of myrrh He offers to share with you (us) today. Myrrh talks of His suffering and His death. In this journey, we cannot but come across challenges and suffering, even for the sake of who or what we believe and we cannot deny Him, just to avoid the suffering that comes on account of our faith:

But here’s what the scripture assures us:
2 Timothy 2:12

If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: “…. Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.”

If they looked for Jesus with valuable and meaningful gift, if you have that Jesus, people of value with things of value will also search you out! According to Romans 8:19: “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” You will manifest in Jesus name.
