Although God has commanded dominion and has given us license to be great, prosperous and increase but we must also know that dominion is not automatic. Dominion is a position or status you occupy but not automatically. There is a responsibility on your path to work in that reality. There are principles and keys that deliver the dominion mandate to anyone who really desires to enter the divine promises. One of these keys is giving. It is one thing to live in the realm of promises but it is a greater thing to grow into the realm of covenant. Giving opens to you the covenant path to dominion and prosperous life.

In Genesis 22:1-18, we saw how Abraham entered into divine covenant of dominion through giving. God asked Abraham to give his only child, Isaac: And He said, ‘Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and get into the land of Moriah, and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell you of’ (Genesis 22:2). In verse three of this scripture, we saw that Abraham did not discuss with anyone, even Isaac. He did not query God or lament. The Bible says, And Abraham rose up early in the morning and saddled his ass and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him (Genesis 22:3).

Abraham just obeyed as God told him. He did not even tell his wife, Sarah. Wao! Can you see faith, trust and confidence in God? When God asks us to give to Him, it is not the time to negotiate, consider or call family meeting on how we should do it. Complete obedience always touches God’s heart. You can’t beat God; you can’t manipulate or deceive Him. All you need is to obey Him once you are sure of what He’s asking you.

After Abraham got to the mountain, He did as God instructed him but you know what? God was just testing him. God wanted to know if he loved anything more than Him. Anytime God is asking us to give, He wants to know if we love anything or anyone more than Him. Our giving indicates our love for God. Jesus said, where your treasure is, that’s where your heart will be also (Luke 12:34).

It took Abraham three days journey to get to the place God told him; it’s such a far place (verse 4). He didn’t turn back the first or second day, but walked three days to a place he didn’t know, just going by faith. There is nothing God will want us to do that will not stretch our faith, our finances, our energy, and our relationship, just to see how far we can go with Him. Nothing for God is cheap and easy, it’s always expensive.

So Abraham passed the test but let’s see what happened after in verse 16 and 17: Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son — blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

I want you to see the promises in the blessings Abraham received:
• A global impact blessing: blessing I will bless you… In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed
• Geometric increase: …multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand, which is on the seashore;
• Generational blessing: and your descendants shall …
• Victory over any opposing situation of life: …possess the gate of their enemies.

Abraham got these four fold blessings, which are exactly the blessings God gave man in Genesis 1:28. It was a blessing of dominion. You must know this: the blessing of dominion is a generational blessing. When you contact it, it goes into your future and manifests itself not only in your life but also in the life of your children, grand and great grandchildren.
