The word and prophecy – Part 3
In part one of this topic, we dealt more on lust as a distraction to the believer and hence a hinderance to prophecy manifestation. That you seem to know the word doesn’t mean that you are filled with the word. To know the word and be filled with the word are two different things. Many people know the word but are not filled with the word. Until you are filled with the word, it makes it ineffective, tasteless and unattractive to you because you believe you already know all the Bible stories. So, you have the letters that killeth. The Bible calls it having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof. Until you are filled with the word (like the Holy Ghost) you cannot ‘live’ the word and be activated or controlled by the word.
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 3:5,7).
Prayer without the deep knowledge of the word of God is mere poem. Neither can prophecy be activated for fulfilment without adequate knowledge of the Word of God. You have to discipline your flesh and subdue it to get rooted in the Word of God. You read the word, study, meditate and get revelation through the Holy Spirit, which also is not activated except by the Word. Any Christian that wants to succeed must say like Apostle Paul and do same.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation… (Why). Emphasis mine. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed… Romans 1:16-17.
The power to make things happen is in the gospel, the word. It also reveals the righteousness (the nature and character) of God. Don’t just read and confess, also believe.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, … Hebrews 4:12. To avoid distractions, the Bible encourages us on things to think on and about.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, just, pure, lovely, good report; if there be any virtue, and praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8
The word will help you get free from bad and negative thoughts and to focus on your prophetic destiny. It will help you make a clear distinction between your natural mind and thoughts and spirit-led thoughts.
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:20
We are encouraged or commanded to turn to the law and the testimony which is the word of God. The Word of God produces light in us and illuminates our mind: the light therefore is the evidence of the word of God. If you live according to the Word of God, you will surely make your way prosperous and have good success as prophecy will be fulfilled and made manifest.
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8
The word lightens our path, a way maker. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path (Psalm 119:105).
