Mystery of the word
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4
The devil does not respect your words or what you think. Rather, he fears and obeys the Word of God in your mouth. He shivers when he hears it is written. The Word of God has such enormous power that it permeates our being, gives life (Luke 1: 38, John 11), raise from the dead, destroys evil works, quickens (Romans 8:11), heals (Matthew 8:8), restores, the word gives direction (Isaiah 30:21), the word gives result (Luke 5:5).
Then I said, I will not make mention of him,
nor speak any more in his name.
But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones,
and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay. Jeremiah 20:9
But how will the word works, if you don’t know what is written. The Psalmist prayed,
My soul cleaveth unto the dust:
quicken thou me according to thy word. Psalm 119:25
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
This is a wakeup call for us as believers to go back to God’s Word. In the midst of troubles, different challenges and worries of this world, the devil must not succeed in taking the Word of God from our lips and lives. The only thing that distinguishes us from others is the blood and the power God has placed on our lips- His Word.
For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. John 17:8
Jesus, at an early age, understood the place of knowledge and wisdom. He was found in the temple listening and asking questions from the teachers of His days.
And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. Luke 2:46-47
The Word of God teaches us the mind of God. The Word of God is our teacher; it is our guideline for living. Do not be far from your teacher, do not assume you know. when you don’t, that is the path of fools that leads to destruction and shame.
And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers: Isaiah 30:20
The above scripture emphasises the importance of teachers or pastors that impart you with the Word. Knowledge and wisdom also come through the instruction, teaching of your teacher (Isaiah 30:21 -26).
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. Isaiah 30:21
You must not be deceived by what the world is saying. We must study the Word of God to know what God is saying, to know what strategy to use in a confused world that will bring the answer needed.
Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. Acts 13:26. Search the scriptures out, meditate on it and seek answer from the Lord. His word does not change. Time and season may change, but His word will never change. It is stable and reliable for generations. It is unbeatable.
Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. Psalm 119:89
