Petrol tanker explodes in Jigawa, no casualties reported
A tanker explosion occurred yesterday in Jigawa State, just weeks after a similar incident claimed over 100 lives in a border community between Jigawa and Kano states.
The Jigawa State Command of the Federal Fire Service confirmed that the explosion occurred at Tsaida, Kwanar Kalle, near Gamoji village along Maiduri Road in Kahutu.
Officials swiftly contained the incident, and no reported loss of life was reported. Speaking to journalists, Aliyu Muhammed, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service in Jigawa State, stated that the service received a distress call from the Village Head of Kuho, Zubairu Ahmad, regarding a tanker accident in the area.
“The FFS responded promptly, arriving at the scene at 10:50 a.m. The fire was contained and brought under control,” Aliyu said, assuring the public that the situation was effectively managed, preventing further escalation.
