Youth group honours Obudu council chairman as grand patron confers peace ambassador award

The Executive Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. (Amb.) Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, KSM, has been officially decorated as the Grand Patron of the National Association of Nigeria Ambassadors (NANYA) and conferred with the prestigious Ambassador of Peace Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership and dedication to youth development.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Chairman’s office, Obudu Local Government Secretariat, and was attended by representatives of the association, local government officials, and other stakeholders.

Expressing his gratitude, Hon. Peter Undiandeye appreciated the association for the honor, reaffirming his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote youth development and nation-building. He encouraged young people to embrace hard work, innovation, and leadership, assuring them of his unwavering support in creating opportunities for growth and enhancing the socioeconomic well-being of the people of Obudu, particularly the youth.

Earlier, the National President of NANYA,
Comr. Amb. Jennifer Orgugua, praised Hon. Undiandeye for his outstanding leadership, youth inclusiveness, and commitment to the progress of young people. He emphasized that the association carefully selects its Grand Patrons based on their track record of selfless service and leadership acumen.

Comr. Aji highlighted Hon. Undiandeye’s appointment of young people into his administration, his dedication to tackling security challenges, and his efforts to improve critical sectors in alignment with the People First mantra of Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State.

Speaking further, Comr. Aji described the National Association of Nigeria Youth Ambassadors (NANYA) as a non-governmental organization (NGO) and an apex body uniting various voluntary youth organizations, including paramilitary, religious, and community-based youth groups (CBOs). He explained that the association is committed to fighting social vices through voluntary service, organizing lectures for secondary school students, and engaging in humanitarian efforts such as visiting IDP camps.

Highpoint of the event was the official decoration of Hon. Peter Undiandeye as Grand Patron of the association and the presentation of a Certificate of Honor as Ambassador of Peace, delivered by the Chief of Staff to the National President, Comr. Aji Abraham.
