The African Women in Tech Sales project, spearheaded byfounder of The Retention Concierge, Jennifer Jemedafe Salau, is set to revolutionise the landscape of technology sales in Nigeria. The initiative aims at empowering 100 Nigerian women with specialised technical sales skills needed to thrive in the dynamic world of technology sales.

In her call for collaboration with the government, well-meaning individuals and corporates, Salau noted: “Investing in this programme creates a robust innovation ecosystem. Trained individuals can significantly contribute to the growth of a thriving Nigerian and African tech sector. A skilled entrepreneurial workforce accelerates economic growth, making our region more attractive to tech companies and foreign investments.”
Salau said she draws inspiration for the initiative from her unwavering passion for positive transformation and unity in Africa.

According to her, she sees knowledge and skills transfer, coupled with technology and people-centric strategies, as catalysts for the continent’s progress across all sectors.

She cited the statement by the CEO of Oracle, Safra Catz, which says, “The most significant barrier to female leadership is the actual lack of females in leadership. The best advice I can give to women is to go out and start something, ideally their own businesses. If you can’t see a path for leadership within your own company, go blaze a trail of your own”; noting that, “this encapsulates the spirit of empowerment and entrepreneurship that defines the essence of this transformative project.”

Salau emphasised that African Women in Tech Sales was not just a programme but a commitment to creating an inclusive workforce that fosters innovation and propels economies forward.

“Participants will not only acquire essential sales skills but will also gain enhanced employability and access to international remote job opportunities. This, in turn, aims to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset, contributing to local job creation,” she added.

The Retention Concierge, a company born out of Jennifer’s resilience and reaction to job loss during the COVID-19 pandemic, has evolved into a key player in technology sales. The company now collaborates with eight of the world’s leading technology firms, driving digital transformation in both private and public sectors in Africa and the UAE. Positioned as an attractive brand for tech companies expanding into Africa, Retention Concierge has become a symbol of adaptability and success.
