Supected Boko Haram terrorists have killed two residents following a fresh attack at Jakana police station in Borno State. The insurgents also set on fire two police and a Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) patrol vehicles in the early hours of yesterday.

Confirming the incident, in a telephone interview in Maiduguri, the Chairman of Konduga Local Council, Abbas Ali Abari, said the insurgents came from the Sambisa Forest and attacked the community and the police station.

According to him, the terrorists, who attacked at about 1:00 a.m., also snatched away several arms and ammunition from the police station armoury. He stated that a police driver, alongside a female friend, was killed in the attack on the community 40 kilometres east of Maiduguri, the state capital.

Abari added that the insurgents engaged the military and police for about three hours before they were overpowered by the superior firing power of the troops at about 3:00 a.m.
