Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has called on the Muslim community to dedicate the occasion to seeking divine intervention in the country’s ongoing security challenges.

The governor disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

He identified prayers as a means to overcome Nigeria’s security woes, which he identified as a major hindrance to the nation’s development.

“No meaningful development takes place where there is no peace,” Aliyu said.

“We must all focus on prayers during this festive season so that our country can overcome its current challenges.”

Aliyu appealed to Islamic clerics to emphasize the importance of prayers to their followers, particularly in difficult times, and assured citizens of his administration’s commitment to supporting religious activities in the state.

“Promoting Islamic affairs is one of our 9-point smart agenda, and we will give it the attention it deserves,” he said.

The governor also extended his best wishes to the Muslim ummah for a peaceful and joyful Maulud celebration.
