A Decade of God’s Faithfulness: An Exclusive Interview with Rev. Kachi Asugha, Team Lead of ZAMAR Concert
For the past 10 years, ZAMAR Concert has grown into a deeply impactful worship experience, bringing together people from diverse walks of life to lift their voices in unrestrained praise & worship to God.
As the concert celebrates its 10th anniversary with the theme “ZAMAR “X” – Oneness with the Father,” we caught up with Rev. Kachi Asugha, the team lead of ZAMAR Concert, to reflect on the journey so far, share insights about this year’s event, and give us a glimpse of what’s next for this dynamic worship concert.
Rev. Kachi, congratulations on ZAMAR’s 10th anniversary! Can you tell us how this journey started?
Thank you! This journey has truly been a testament to God’s faithfulness. ZAMAR Concert started as a music night during the Kingdom Life World ConferenceTM (KLWC), the annual flagship program of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) worldwide.
What started as a one-night worship segment grew into something much bigger over time. We felt God nudging us to create a space where people could experience worship differently—unfiltered, unabashed, unrestricted, and creatively expressed through various art forms. In 2014, we officially launched ZAMAR Concert, and since then, it has become a yearly experience where people encounter God in fresh and dynamic ways.
What makes ZAMAR Concert stand out from other gospel events in Nigeria?
ZAMAR is not just an event; it’s an experience. It’s a night where worship breaks free from the usual mold, and attendees are drawn into God’s presence in unique ways.
1 We are intentional about ensuring that every aspect of the concert glorifies God, whether it’s the powerful music ministrations, poetry, or choreography. Every detail is crafted to create an atmosphere of reverence, joy, and spiritual connection.
What also makes ZAMAR special is its interdenominational nature. It’s not about any particular church or tribe—it’s about bringing people together, irrespective of background, to worship the true and living God. This diversity is reflected not just in our audience but also in the ministers we invite.
How has ZAMAR Concert evolved over the years?
ZAMAR has grown into a full-blown global gospel music experience. We’ve hosted amazing ministers, some of whom are household names in gospel music, and we’ve seen how their ministrations have blessed countless lives.
One major area of growth has been in creativity. We’ve expanded beyond just music to include other forms of artistic worship. ZAMAR has also embraced technology, enabling us to reach a global audience through live streaming and online engagement.
Additionally, we’ve seen a remarkable increase in the involvement of young people. ZAMAR Concert has become a space where young creatives, musicians, and worship leaders can express their gifts and connect with a larger body of believers.
The theme for this year is “ZAMAR “X” – Oneness with the Father.” Why was this theme chosen, and what should attendees take away from it?
The theme “Oneness with the Father” is a reflection of our desire to draw people closer to God. It speaks to the deep intimacy and alignment that comes from truly knowing and walking with the Father.
This year, as we celebrate 10 years of ZAMAR Concert, the theme also captures the what we’ve experienced as a community of worshipers. We’ve seen how God brings people together—across denominations, tribes, and nations—through worship. For attendees, this theme is an invitation to move beyond surface-level worship into a deeper, more personal relationship with God.
What can attendees look forward to at ZAMAR “X”?
Attendees should prepare for an unforgettable night. This year’s lineup features some of the most anointed gospel ministers, including Lilian Nnneji, Bukola Bekes, Neon Adejo, Simon Orumen, Greatman Takit, Joe Smart, and more. Each of them carries a unique grace, and together, they will usher us into God’s presence.
Beyond the music, there will be creative performances, electrifying moments, and heartfelt worship that will leave attendees spiritually refreshed and deeply inspired. This year is also special because it’s a time to reflect on our 10-year journey and celebrate all that God has done through ZAMAR.
What challenges have you faced in organizing ZAMAR Concert, and how have you managed to overcome them?
Every large-scale event comes with its challenges. From logistics to funding and coordinating with multiple artists, there’s always something to navigate. But for us, the biggest challenge has been ensuring that every edition is better than the last.
We’ve been able to overcome these hurdles through God’s provision and the incredible dedication of our team. We also owe a lot to the unwavering support of TREM and our partners, who believe in the vision of ZAMAR.
What’s the vision for ZAMAR in the next decade?
The next 10 years hold so much promise. We see ZAMAR Concert expanding into a truly global worship movement, touching lives in every corner of the world. We want to take this vision to new cities and nations, creating more opportunities for people to experience radical worship.
We’re also passionate about raising the next generation of worship leaders, empowering them to use their gifts for God’s glory. Whether through mentorship, training programs, or collaborations, ZAMAR will continue to be a platform for growth and excellence in worship.
What’s your message to those planning to attend ZAMAR “X”?
My message is simple: don’t come alone, and come expectant. ZAMAR “X” is more than an event—it’s an encounter with God. It’s a chance to experience worship on a whole new level and to celebrate the oneness we have in Christ.
Bring your friends, family, and your heart ready for a night of radical praise. This is a celebration of God’s faithfulness, and you don’t want to miss it.
