Dr. Anyanwu wins 2024/2025 Texas University Systems CATE Award
Abia state of Nigeria born Dr Kele Anyanwu, an associate professor of Educational Programs at the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), has been honoured by Texas A&M University Systems with the Chancellor’s Academy of Teacher Educators (CATE) Award.
The CATE Award recognizes and honors both individuals and university teams who are making noteworthy and exemplary contributions to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement in teacher preparation.
The TAMIU faculty member’s exemplary and innovative work prompted Anyanwu’s selection as one of only three statewide recipients of the CATE Award of the Texas A & M University System.
TAMIU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Claudia San Miguel, notified Dr. Anyanwu of his selection and informed him that the award recipients will gather for a recognition ceremony in March 2025 at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in Texas A & M University Systems, College Station, Texas.
Dr. San Miguel acknowledged that Dr. Anyanwu’s contributions to teacher preparation at TAMIU have been impressive.
He declared, ” Dr. Anyanwu’s impressive work with Mixed Reality Simulation replicates real-world classroom challenges that allow the professor to take corrective action in real-time to enhance students’ learning and preparedness.”
While Dr Miguel attested that this bold and innovative approach with measurable impact truly affirms Dr. Anyanwu’s CATE Award selection, the Dean of TAMIU’s College of Education, Dr. James O’Meara, concurred, stating “Dr. Anyanwu’s innovative approach provides a safe space for rehearsing teaching practices and is making a real difference. We’re tremendously proud of him and the impact he is having.”
Nigerian Dr. Anyanwu, who joined TAMIU in 2023, holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Technology, and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Instructional Technology from the University of Houston, had earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry/Microbiology from the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN).
