To mitigate poverty and spread hope, the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI), in partnership with Quality Foods Africa (QFA), operators of Dodo Pizza, Scoop’d Ice Cream, Burger Nation and Krispy Kreme in Lagos and Abuja, have distributed food items to 200 families in Oworonshoki, Lagos.

Speaking at the outreach, Executive Director, LFBI, Michael Sunbola said the project aimed at bringing relief to the community, adding that the content in the box would serve a family of five for about two to three weeks. He said it contained staple foods and nutrition.

“Communities like this are usually marginalised and we want to ensure we build a society where no one is left behind by reaching out to the most vulnerable in the society,” he said. He explained that LFBI currently serves more than 170 communities, leveraging on collaboration with businesses and the private sector in performing their duties.

“Our partnership with QFA shows how businesses and non profit organisations can be at the forefront of fighting hunger and malnutrition in the society.

“We see how a lot of families are grappling with inflation, high cost of living and reduced disposable income,” he said. Sunbola acknowledged that though navigating such informal communities can be difficult, their nine years experience has helped them surmount such challenges.

Head, External Affairs and Business Operations, QFA, Damilola Oyewole, said beyond offering great value delivery and eat in dining opportunities in Lagos and Abuja, QFA engaged in this project as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which seeks to give back to the community and strengthen connections.

“The “A Slice of Care” initiative is one for us to share kindness and giveback to the community where we serve.” She explained that in just seven years, QFA has grown to 50 stores, employing 600 staff. She also reiterated the firm’s commitment to the highest governance and compliance standards.
