With the launch of her foundation, FUNDAWAZI, which means Learn and Know, the senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, Mrs. Nomthi Odukoya has reiterated her commitment towards ending of bullying.

Speaking at a media briefing held at the church’s Multipurpose Hall in Ilupeju, Pastor Odukoya said her journey started with a strong desire to address issues from stories she heard about child maltreatment in Nigeria.

“After much pondering and deliberation, God laid it in my heart to write a book titled No! Don’t Touch Me There. And since then, I have received invitations to speak to children in different schools and I’m overwhelmed to have received calls from parents from every part of Nigeria and beyond to testify on how children use the information in the book to protect themselves.

According to her, the aim of the Foundation is to teach children how to protect and equip themselves against Harassments. She further emphasised that there is need for children to learn good moral, as some children are caught in the web of bully when they are little and most of them grow up to become violent.

“There is also a high possibility that a child, who has been bullied may end up bullying others or might be involved in domestic violence later in life. Bullying affects many marriages because the issues were not dealt with while they were little, which is why the foundation will focus mainly on children to curb this social ill.

“You will agree with me that bullying is one of the social challenges that children face either in school or at home. If the issue is not properly addressed, it can leave a child scarred all through life.”

Odukoya disclosed that it would however take the effort of everyone to end bullying, which she described as monster in people’s lives.
