Minister to hold talks with UK delegation on housing investment

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa will receive the United Kingdom delegation to the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS) to foster a relationship between Nigeria and the UK on housing investment in the country.

The 20-member delegation led by the UK Department of Trade and Investment will meet Dangiwa, who is the AIHS chief host, to discuss how to boost the relationship between Africa and UK, and drive investment into the real estate sector.

Also, the UK Department of Trade and Investment will be hosting a dinner for leading real estate stakeholders in Africa at the end of the first day of the event planned at the Velodrome, National Stadium, Abuja.

The Coordinator, Africa International Housing Show, Festus Adebayo, who revealed the development, said this year’s event is unique, as the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development will be the co-organiser, and Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima will open the six-day programme. The event will feature over 500 exhibitors from about 21 countries, with over 40,000 participants including U40 young professionals.

The year’s show is also supported by reputable government and non-government organisations including Dangote Cement Plc, lnternational Finance Organisation (IFC), Shelter Afrique, Africa Development Bank (Afdb), UN-Habitat, and professional bodies in the construction industry.

The event will also attract States Commissioners for Housing, experts from IFC, World Bank, AUHF, and numerous CEOs of government-owned housing finance agencies, state-owned housing corporations, and public and private real estate companies.

According to Adebayo, AIHS has established itself as a prime destination for global and local stakeholders, building and construction companies, mortgage companies, public agencies, private corporations, and home seekers to learn, network, exhibit, and conduct business.

“AIHS provides a platform to share competitive ideas, and cutting-edge innovations, and influence public and private policies that will enable housing sector development. It is highly attractive due to its expertly curated programs, which promote interactions, innovations, and affordable housing solutions for Nigeria and Africa.”

The programme will feature product presentations, exhibitions of building technology for affordable housing from different parts of the world, home interiors, modern construction equipment, chemical and paint products, mortgage services, housing projects, and interactive forums with high-net-worth participants.
