A male construction worker yesterday escaped being crushed by a building that partially collapsed at 2, Little Road, Yaba, Lagos State.

The Guardian learnt that the building, a bungalow, was undergoing manual demolition when it collapsed and injured one of the workers.

Confirming the incident, the Head of Public Affairs for the Lagos State Emergency Agency, Nosa Okunbor, said the agency, in response to distress calls via its 767/112 Emergency Toll-Free lines at about 9:30 a.m., activated its Cobra team from Onipanu Base.

According to him, upon arrival at the location at about 9:40 a.m., a bungalow building undergoing manual demolition was found to have partially collapsed and injured one of the workers’ limbs in the process.

“No lives were lost and the injured victim was taken to a hospital before the arrival of emergency responders to the scene. The demolition site was cordoned off by the agency’s officials, while the responders headed back to base,” he added.
