Osimhen may stay on at Napoli as PSG move stalls

Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen, may be forced to remain at Napoli following PSG of France’s seeming reluctance to complete a deal for the striker. PSG were expected to have completed a deal for Osimhen as they were quick to pitch for the star, who led Napoli to their first league title in 30 years in the 2022/23 season Serie A season.

But the French champions have recently been linked with other strikers and some forwards, including Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho and Benfica’s Jaoa Neves. PSG also have two top strikers in Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos.

Reports from Italy say that Napoli could be forced to include Osimhen in their plans if no suitor came to recruit the star, even at a reduced price.
Napoli last season put a €130 million price tag on Osimhen when he signed a new deal that will expire in 2026. But the former Italians are said to be ready to listen to reduced offers for the African Footballer of the Year.

Earlier in the transfer window, Osimhen was linked to moves to Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and a host of Saudi Arabian clubs. But none of these clubs have come forth with an offer half way into the transfer window.

Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, said, yesterday, that PSG are still weighing up the move for Osimhen, adding also that the Parisians have opened talks with Jadon Sancho’s agents for a potential move this summer.

Romano said: “Paris Saint-Germain are planning to advance for both João Neves and Victor Osimhen from next week. Benfica understand João’s desire to join PSG, talks are advancing between the clubs to get it done. Osimhen said yes to PSG, deal with Napoli not close yet but talks on.”

There are also reports that Osimhen has approached Napoli’s new coach, Antonio Conte, with a view to remaining at the Italian club if the move to PSG falls through.
