Psychologist, social entrepreneur, and founder of The Sunshine Series (TSS), Aisha Bubah is amongst the 11 Nigerian entrepreneurs selected by Cascador for its 2025 cohort for leading mission-driven companies that address some of the nation’s most pressing challenges.
The Sunshine Series, an organisation pioneering innovative approaches to mental healthcare in Nigeria has been at the forefront of bridging the country’s mental healthcare gap through impactful initiatives such as launching the largest 24/7 toll-free mental health helpline in Africa. This was integrated into Nigeria’s national emergency number (112), influencing the National Mental Health Policy, training and deploying lay counselors in grassroots communities, provision of therapy services, and corporate wellness programmes that help organisations build mentally healthy workplaces.
These efforts have not only supported individuals in crisis but also shifted national conversations toward prevention, accessibility, and stigma reduction.
The 2025 Cascador cohort was selected from over 400 applicants nationwide, with 40 percent female representation and strong inclusion from northern Nigeria, reflecting the diversity and resilience that shape the country’s entrepreneurial future. Over the course of the programme, participants will refine their value propositions, sharpen their business strategies, and access both knowledge and capital, critical resources for scaling sustainably.
Speaking on her selection, Aisha Bubah said: “Cascador is not just an opportunity to grow and scale our work; it is a platform to collaborate with fellow innovators who share a vision for transforming Nigeria’s future. I am honoured to represent the mental health sector in this powerful community of changemakers.”
For The Sunshine Series, the recognition strengthens the organisation’s capacity to expand its impact, deepen community engagement, and build scalable mental healthcare models that resonate with Nigeria’s cultural realities. With Cascador’s strategic guidance and funding opportunities, TSS is poised to accelerate its mission to break stigma, promote resilience, and create lasting change in how mental health is understood and addressed in Nigeria.
