Joe-Blaise Nnaemeka Akanazu’s collection of poems, Soul and Spirit Poetry of the Heart Plus More, has been approved by the Abia State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education for use in junior secondary schools across the state.

A list of recommended textbooks for Upper Basic (Junior) and Senior Secondary Schools for the years 2025-2028 released by the ministry in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, shows that Soul and Spirit was approved alongside two other notable books: In My Oasis by Nma Mba and Gold in Unlikely Places by Dr. Chukwuemeka N. Oluoha.

Speaking on the development, the author of Soul and Spirit, Akanazu, expressed his gratitude and excitement, highlighting the impact the approval will have on students and educators in Abia State.

“The book, designed for motivational and educational purposes, features poems suitable for recitation and presentation during morning assemblies. Its approval underscores the importance of integrating creative and inspirational content into the educational curriculum,” he said.

He further said the approval points to the book’s value and relevance in promoting literary appreciation and personal growth among students.
