Club donates delivery kits to pregnant women

The Rotary Club of Anthony Golden District 9112 has donated pregnancy and delivery kits to pregnant women at Mende Primary Healthcare Centre Maryland, Lagos.

The club also donated school bags, school uniforms, socks and educational writing materials to pupils of Anthony Model Nursery and Primary School, Anthony, Lagos. The back to school project also featured tree planting in the school premises.

The President of Rotary Club Anthony Golden, Mr. Fikayo Ogundairo, said the gesture was in line with the club’s activities to provide humanitarian service, promote integrity and high ethical standards.

He explained that the donation was to give back to the community as the club focuses more on humanitarian development. He said the club undertakes to improve life of pregnant women and school children in its community. “Rotarians undertake to improve the quality of lives in their community; particularly emphasis is given to helping children, needy families, the aged, the handicapped, and those most in need of assistance.”

He said Rotary Club has other programmes where it works to reduce the impact of diseases like malaria, pneumonia, and diarrheal diseases through improving diagnosis and treatment access. “We focus more on improving the health of mothers and infants by providing prenatal care, vaccinations, and essential supplies such as birth kits and sickle cell screening kits, among others.”

The Chief Nursing Officer of Mende Primary Healthcare Centre, Mrs. Oshe Anthonia, commended the club, praying that God will bless them. Representative of Anthony Model Nursery and Primary School, Mrs. Christiana Oladeji, said the club has touched the lives of the pupils positively with the donations. She also prayed that God will bless them to help more indigent students.
