The Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, has urged the Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Tijani Fatai, to strengthen discipline and improve conduct within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The monarch gave the advice yesterday, while receiving the CP during a courtesy visit to his palace in Lagos.
Oba Akiolu said that although there are still officers of integrity in the Force, the actions of some personnel continue to undermine its reputation, adding that regular orientation programmes are necessary to address misconduct and instil professionalism among officers.
Fatai said he visited the palace to seek royal blessings as he assumes duty in Lagos.
In a related vein, officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), led by its Acting Zonal Director, Bawa Usman Kaltungo, also paid a courtesy visit to the monarch.
Kaltungo said the Commission remains committed to tackling corruption and protecting innocent citizens.
Akiolu, therefore, urged the Commission to collaborate with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to strengthen public enlightenment and sensitisation on corruption.
He stressed the need to provide accurate information to the public and cautioned against false accusations.
The monarch added that tackling corruption requires collective responsibility and sustained public education.
