NULGE endorses Tambuwal’s governorship bid
THE Nigeria Union of Local Governments Employees ( NULGE) on Tuesday pledged to support the election of Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, as governor of Sokoto State under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that the National President of the union, Alhaji Ibrahim Khaleel, announced the endorsement when he paid a solidarity visit to Tambuwal in Sokoto.
NAN also reports that Tambuwal is the current Speaker of the House of Representatives and Sokoto state APC candidate in the Feb. 28 gubernatorial election.
“We are fully behind your candidature due to your unflinching support to local governments in the country.
“We are of the belief that you will ensure the full autonomy of the 23 local governments in the state and others across Nigeria, if elected,” Khaleel said.
Responding, Tambuwal commended the NULGE president for the visit, describing it as a great morale booster to his ambition.
“The local government is the most important tier of government that is closer to the grassroots,” he said. ( NAN)
