LPPC Approves 21 As SANs
THE Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) yesterday in Abuja approved the conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on 21 lawyers.
Ahmed Saleh, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and Secretary of the Committee, said that LPPC took the decision at its 119th General Meeting.
The chief registrar said that 124 applications were received this year.
He said that three academics and 18 advocates, including a woman made the final list.
The new SANs, he said, would be sworn-in on Sept. 21, at a special session of the Supreme Court to mark the beginning of the new legal year.
Those conferred with the rank, which he described as “a mark of excellence’’ to the conferees are Edward Ashiekaa; Benson Nwankwo; Joseph Bamigboye; Patrick Okolo; Maxwell Gidado; Tahir Mamman; Akinpelu Onigbinde; Ibrahim Bawa and Samuel Zibri.
Others are Adeniyi Adegbonmire; Aderibigbe Adedeji; Emmanuel Aguma; Muiz Banire; Emeka Etiaba; Abimbola Akeredolu; Olumuyiwa Akinboro; Gordy Uche; Uchechukwu Obi; Kehinde Eleja; Paul Idornigie; and Oladapo Olanipekun.
