Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade has been accused of running the state as a sole administrator.

Governor Ben AyadeCross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade has been accused of running the state as a sole administrator. His critics said three months after assuming office, “he is yet to appoint commissioners and Special Advisers”. Besides they wondered why the governor should run the state from his pocket.

One of the critics, a prominent legal practitioner in the state, Chief Utum Eteng said, “he should appear to be serious. For me, objectively speaking, I have not seen his style of governance as a serious style or anything well intended. We pray to God to give him the grace to come down to the real basis of governance because he cannot run a government without Commissioners. He has fallen fowl of the law in many areas. We want him to succeed, but he should not take us for granted because the way he is going about governance is like he has found an estate and he is running it that way, no it is not correct.”

But the governor promised recently that his cabinet would soon be constituted.

“The leadership of the party (PDP) of this state is meeting and it is hoping to have a broad base establishment arm of the executive of our state and that will happen in a very short time. We are commencing an interactive session today with all the various local governments in a bid to set up our commissioners, advisers and set up a government in full swing.

Ayade said, “maybe I should have just folded my hands and wait for the State House of Assembly. You don’t ask yourselves how I get money to go on and push. I am not supposed to say what I want to say now. I brought my money to run this state. Let me do the analysis. All your questions, with all sense of surprise and shock are all centred on money. You have not done this; you have done that. “
