Emir calls for peaceful polls

THE Emir of Karshi in Nasarawa, Alhaji Mohammed Bako, on Friday advised Nigerians to refrain from negative acts that could divide the country along ethnic, religious and political lines.

The emir gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Karshi, Karu Local Government Area of the state, ahead of the approaching general elections.

Bako also advised the people to embrace peace and unity while tolerating one another irrespective of individual differences.

He also commended the media, especially NAN , for contributing positively to promoting peace through reportage.

“ As a traditional ruler, I always preach peace; this is because no nation can experience meaningful development in an atmosphere of rancour and confusion.

“ Peace is a necessary requirement for the development of any nation; peace is priceless and non-negotiable.

“ I call on all hands to be on deck in order to ensure peaceful co-existence during and after the general elections in the country.

“I urge eligible voters to vote for God- fearing leaders in the interest of peace and national development,” he said.

The monarch also urged Nigerians to continue to pray for a peaceful and successful conduct of the elections.

He urged them to always pray for their leaders to enable them succeed in delivering more dividends of democracy. (NAN)
