Uduaghan decries herdsmen’s terrorism

WORRIED by the menace of herdsmen, Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has warned that his administration would no longer tolerate cattle-rearers who attack farmers in their farmlands.

   Uduaghan, who spoke at the weekend during the commissioning of a network of nine internal roads at Ovwor-Olomu in Ughelli South local council, against the backdrop of the increasing cases of herdsmen killing people and raping women, assured farmers in the state of adequate protection from the aggression.

   “We are ready to accept visitors who have genuine business in our state, but our visitors should not be problem to us,” he said. “Let me assure our farmers that government is doing a lot to secure our people, especially farmers. We have never heard of cattle-rearers carrying AK 47 rifles.”

   Uduaghan lamented that unlike in the past, cattle-rearers now rape women and kill people in the bush, crimes he insisted the government was determined to halt. He further charged council chairmen to have good relationship with their traditional rulers so as to boost peace and security at the grassroots.
