Edo road crash claims three, injures five

AN accident involving four vehicles along the Benin-Asaba-Onitsha expressway has claimed three lives with five others seriously injured.

      The incident was said to have occurred on Monday morning within the axis of the Okhuahae bridge.

    The mishap involved two trucks marked ABS 91 XA belonging to Dangote Group, XB 995 UKP belonging to Guinness company and a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) with registration number SAP 135 AA respectively.

   The Edo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Familoni Oluwasusi, who confirmed the crash Tuesday, said the accident happened at the Okhuahae Bridge near Benin.

Oluwasusi, however, did not give reasons for the accident.

He stated that out of the eight male adults involved in the accident, three died while five of them were injured.

   He said that it took the combined team of the police and FRSC officials to rescue the victims and evacuate the affected vehicles from the scene.
    The FRSC official disclosed that the corpses had been deposited at the morgue of agency’s hospital.
