Mr Mohammed Bello-Koko, Acting Managing Director, Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA).

The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh;  Acting Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mohammed Bello-Koko; Director-General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Farouk Salim and  Rector of Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron, Emmanuel Effedua, among others, will be honoured at this year’s edition of the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) conference/awards.

The conference, with the theme: ‘Seamless Port Operations in Nigeria’, slated to be held on November 19, at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, will have the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as the guest of honour and the president of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Iju Tony Nwabunike, to chair the occasion.

The event will feature paper presentations by chief executives of government agencies and organisations. President of AMJON, Paul Ogbuokiri, described the maritime industry as an unharnessed sector, especially with the present administration’s diversification agenda.

Noting that the conference would chart paths to issues in the industry, he added that a communique would be issued at the end of the programme.

Chairman, Organising Committee, Innocent Orok, who said the event would also attract stakeholders from allied transport and logistics chain sub-sector, noted that deserving and patriotic Nigerians, would be honoured.

Part of the highlights of the event, Orok added, would be the launch of AMJON express magazine, a special-purpose publication to serve as reference materials for journalists and students.
