As the newly installed President of Rotary Club Ikeja GRA, Lagos, Rotarian Ameachi Alozie Chinedum stands out as a beacon of hope.

He is driven by a deep commitment to service and a passion for making a lasting impact in his community.

According to him, he was inspired by Rotary’s values of ‘Service Above Self,’ which resonate deeply with his personal philosophy.

He said, “Taking on this leadership role is a unique opportunity to make a difference without breaking the bank. In Rotary, it’s a collective effort.”

With a strong legacy to build upon, Chinedum’s top priorities are clear: strengthening membership, delivering education, healthcare, and economic development to the community.

“By empowering more people, we can build a more resilient and vibrant community,” he emphasised.

Under his leadership, the club will witness innovative initiatives addressing pressing community needs.

His digital tools will enhance connectivity and project efficiency, while a comprehensive Maternity and Child Health programme will provide essential healthcare services to vulnerable women and children.

His skill development workshops and entrepreneurship training will support economic empowerment, equipping individuals with the skills to break the cycle of poverty.

For Chinedum, fostering collaboration is crucial. “Creating a strong sense of purpose and belonging within the club is key. Every member must feel valued and have a clear role in our projects,” he noted.

To achieve this, he plans to encourage inclusivity, improve member engagement, and expand partnerships with local and international organisations.
He said, “If we’ve made significant strides in improving education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, inspiring future leaders to carry on the work, then I’ll consider my leadership a success.”

A personal experience sparked Chinedum’s commitment to service. Witnessing the transformative impact of a Rotary-led educational project in a rural community left an indelible mark.
“The smiles on the children’s faces, the joy of parents who saw hope for their children’s future… it reaffirmed my belief in the power of service.”

His leadership promises to inspire a new wave of change-makers, leaving a lasting legacy in the community.
“Service Above Self” is more than a motto for Chinedum; it’s a way of life. With his vision, passion, and commitment, Rotary Club Ikeja GRA is poised to make a profound impact, transforming lives and communities for generations to come.

Chinedum’s focus will be on improving access to quality education, especially for underprivileged children, providing essential healthcare services with a focus on maternal and child health, and empowering individuals and communities through skill development and entrepreneurship training.

As Chinedum navigates the challenges and opportunities ahead, his message to fellow Rotarians and the community remains clear: “Together, we can make a difference. Let’s join hands to build a better world, one service project at a time.”

With Rotarian Ameachi Alozie Chinedum at the helm, Rotary Club Ikeja GRA is poised to write a new chapter in its legacy of service and community transformation.

He added, “First, I express gratitude to our Immediate Past President and the entire Rotary family for their tireless efforts. Your selfless service has paved the way for our continued impact.

“As we gather today, I reflect on our club’s remarkable journey. From our flagship ‘School-in-a-Bag’ project to the life-changing Rotary Health Day, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, we’ve made a difference.

“Our crowning achievement, the 36-bed Caregivers’ Quarters at LASUTH, stands as a testament to our commitment. And I’m eager to announce that our focus for this year is to equip and complete the finishing touches, ensuring a comfortable haven for those who care for others.

“But our work doesn’t stop there. This month being the Education and Literacy month, we will be having our School in the bag project! Our star project the has given us the opportunity to support education vy given overb1000 children in our communities brand new schools bags with books and writing materials.

“The helps to take off a huge percentage of cost incured by parents preparing their children to school. It doesn’t stop there.

“We’ve also received requests from schools in our community, such as Ikeja Cantonment, the Police and others entities, seeking support for basic necessities like pipe-borne water, ambulances, healthcare deliver etc. We’ll address these needs, aligning with Rotary’s 7 Areas of Focus and empowering our youth through RYLA.”
