DELSU conference interrogates role of humanity in national development
The Faculty of Arts, Delta State University, Abraka, is hosting an international conference that has as theme ‘Rethinking the Humanities and Development in Africa.’ The conference, which began yesterday, ends tomorrow.
The conference, which seeks to re-think the role of the humanities in the development of Africa, will attract scholars, policy makers and other stakeholders from Africa and beyond.
In a statement issued by the Chairman, Organising Committee, Professor Macaulay Mowarin, the conference will feature a keynote lecture by Professor Best Chigbo, a lead paper by Professor Olatunji Oyesile, and parallel sessions as well as other side attractions. The conference convener is the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Professor (Mrs.) Grace Ogwu, while the Vice Chancellor, Professor Victor Peretomode, is chief host. The conference proceedings begin at 10 a.m. daily in the 1000 LT at the university’s permanent site.
