NTN workshop closes with music, dance, drama

It was music, dance and drama at the closing ceremony of a two-day training workshop for the National Troupe of Nigeria’s newly recruited staff and artistes, recently.

The staff, led by Artistic Director/Chief Executive Officer, Nation Troupe of Nigeria, Kaltume Bulama Gana, joined the troupe as they danced to different songs from the geo-political zones of the country.

The director said the training is basically to improve the staff and get them to the next level.

According Gana, “I feel this is what the NTN needs to be on top of their game, as you know, there are many performances in different corners of the country but national troupe puts the country together and I think when they get to this training, they get to answer the name as Nigeria’s cultural ambassadors that they should be.”

She appreciated them for their stellar performance and cooperation to bring it to pass. “I am very proud of you all.”

She said: “the minister has promised her unflinching support and we will be rolling out more training programmes and career development opportunities designed to help you reach your full potential.”

The Deputy Director of Training, Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Meniru Onyia, reminded the staff of their role as ambassadors of the ministry and about the ethics of the civil service, advising them to take seriously whatever the laws say, as the new civil service boss is taking seriously the performance of the staff.

Onyia said it is no more business as usual and any lackadaisical attitude to work will not be accepted.

Other facilitators for the workshop were former Director, Dance and National Choreographer, National Troupe of Nigeria, Dr Arnold Udoka; Nollywood actor, Norbert Young, master drummer, National Coordinator, Guild of Theatre Arts Drummers (GOTHAD), Isioma Williams.
