For too long, women have been expected to play small and stay within invisible boundaries. But in 2025, that narrative no longer holds.

In this year’s International Women’s Day, Temitope Bolade Akinbode and Diche Enunwa answer the call to Accelerate Action, to push forward, shatter ceilings, and redefine success on their terms.

The formidable duo behind Writers Ink Concepts embody this movement. They didn’t just step into Nollywood; they redefined it. As one of the first female-led screenwriting duos in the industry, they have crafted some of Nigeria’s most iconic films and TV shows, proving that women belong in leadership, in storytelling, and at the helm of their destinies.

Their contributions to Nigerian cinema have not gone unnoticed. In recognition of their impact, the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture, in collaboration with EbonyLife Place and the Nigerian International Film Summit (NIFS), honored them with the prestigious Eko Star Awards.
Reflecting on their journey, Tope shares: “When we started, people said a female partnership in this industry wouldn’t last. ‘Women working together? That’s a disaster waiting to happen,’ they claimed. They expected competition, fallout, failure. But a decade later, we stand together, stronger than ever because collaboration, not competition, is the secret to lasting success.”

Not only have they endured, but they have also expanded, transitioning from screenwriters to producers, directors, and casting experts. Their impressive body of work includes over 100 screenwriting credits, featuring acclaimed titles such as Mama Drama, Namaste Wahala, On The Edge, Fine Wine, When Love Happens, Before Valentine, Cold Feet, Inline, Sanitation Day, The Johnsons, and Just Us Girls.

But their success isn’t just about them. They are actively creating opportunities for the next generation of storytellers. Through The Writers’ Room, their acclaimed screenwriting workshop, they mentor and equip aspiring screenwriters and filmmakers, especially women showing them that their stories matter and their voices deserve to be heard.

Diche said: “Waiting for permission means waiting forever. Women can’t afford to stay on the sidelines of success. Every woman has the power to create, lead, and build something extraordinary whether in film, business, tech, or any other industry. The real question is: will you take that first step?”

Temitope and Diche have proven that no woman has to walk this road alone. Now more than ever, we need women supporting women, collaborating, and championing each other’s successes. We need more women betting on themselves and stepping boldly into leadership.

This International Women’s Day, let’s make the message loud and clear: Start now. Take risks. Own your success. The future belongs to women who take action.
