Declares homecoming, mission to give back to Imo

An Ngor- Okpala- Imo born, Abuja based scholar of international repute, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Dr. Chima Mathew Amadi (Mazi Gburugburu), has declared that what predicated his homecoming was to give back to the society, especially his native Ngor-Okpala Council and Imo State at large, having worked the long path towards achieving success in business and academics.

He also decried bad governance in the country that had impoverished the people.
The boardroom strategist made the disclosure during a colourful reception in his honour by Ntu, Umuekwunne, and other autonomous communities in the Ngor-Okpala local government area tagged: &Homecoming.’

He had visited the women during their August meeting at their various community town halls, which provided an opportunity for communities to come together and discuss critical and challenging issues. These consensus-driven gatherings which empowered participants from all walks of life to create solutions and develop action plans to address a number of issues raised during the discussion had a common venue for its grand finale; Comprehensive Secondary School, Umuekwunne, as Mazi Gburugburu alongside his entourage mounted the stage with a message of economic emancipation, social welfare, and empowerment.

It would be recalled that Amadi, a philanthropist of notable impact before the event, shut down social activities with his state-wide visitations during the Imo Women August Meetings in various communities in the state, highlighting the importance of the yearly exercise towards community development, encouraging them as agents of change and donating generously over N80million towards empowering them as well as supporting their numerous projects across the state.

Amadi’s incisive and rousing speech emphasized the power of vision and the will to bring things into reality, urging Imo people to prepare for action as it was time for well-meaning citizens of the state to synergize towards making a difference as well as bringing about the positive change that benefits all. The erudite scholar decried the ineptitude, selfishness, and corruption that pervade political leadership in the country, which he pointed out had visited neglect and underdevelopment in the rural communities.

In his Obama-like electrified speech, the business czar said: “Ladies and gentlemen, I stand before you today with immense gratitude to the Almighty God who has made this day a reality. It is a day long in the making, a day when things that have been worked from behind seem to have come to light; a day when seeds sowed in tears are bearing fruits in joy. Each one of us has the power to make a difference.

“Today is a day where we can say that the values we hold dear and the principles we live by have birthed for us an opportunity to stand in the comity of our peers and people who look up to us to say: the time has come to give back here in Ngor-Okpala and Imo State. Join me, support me, pray for me, and most importantly, look to anybody by your side and tell the person Enyi, Oge eruola, it is our time.”

Mazi Gburugburu as Dr. Chima Amadi is popularly known, used his homecoming/grand finale of Imo August Meeting to kickstart a new political mass movement, The Mazi Gburugburu Organisation with `the Oge Erula Mantra, with the aim of mobilising the Imo people towards charting a new and progressive path for Ngor-Okpala and Imo State. The event also witnessed massive empowerment of participants with cash and motorcycles, among others, by Dr. Amadi.

The auspicious ceremony had dignitaries in attendance, including the immediate past Minister of Education for State, Emeka Nwajiuba, member representing Aboh- Mbaise /Ngor-Okpala Federal Constituency, Dr. Matthew Nwogu, immediate past Senator that represented Imo North Senatorial District, Sen. Frank Ibezim, Michael Brown Njoku, who once represented Ihitte Uboma State Constituency, High Chief Ezenwa Nwagwu, High Chief Val Okere, and Bylden Amajuruowu.

Meanwhile, various participants at the event hailed Amadi’s homecoming and community development initiatives, describing him as embodying characteristics needed in a transformational leader, as they pledged their support and commitment towards the actualization of the mission of Mazi Gburugburu Organisation in Imo State.

South African based businessman, Amb. Promise Okereafor (Oba Na South), an avowed supporter of the Mazi Gburugburu Organisation, said Amadi is a rare breed, an intellectual of international repute, an advocate of good governance, boardroom strategist with the leadership charisma, pedigree and track record of successful private and public outings within and outside the Nigerian socio-economic and political landscape.

Okereafor noted that Amadi is a man on a mission to change the narrative for the better.

The days ahead promise to be quite exciting, engaging, and captivating as Dr. Chima Amadi, through The Mazi Organisation (TMO), rolls out action plans to proactively and economically empower many Imo citizens.
