The Life Coach, the much-anticipated feature film from acclaimed filmmaker Patricia Bebia Mawa, made its grand debut at the prestigious Hotel X in Toronto on Saturday, September 21st, to widespread acclaim.

The film, praised for its compelling storyline and thought-provoking themes, captivated a diverse audience of moviegoers, including fans, industry professionals, and notable Nollywood stars. The Life Coach delves into issues of mental health, the complexities of success, and the strength found in authentic human connections. It tells the story of Gary Johnson, played by Kosa Akaraiwe, a celebrated motivational speaker who secretly battles mental illness rooted in childhood trauma.

Gary forms an anonymous online relationship with Lorraine, portrayed by Linda Osifo, who becomes his confidante. But when Lorraine discovers Gary’s identity, a whirlwind of media attention threatens to dismantle his career. Amid the chaos, Gary must make difficult decisions involving Lorraine and Jennifer—a romantic match arranged by his well-meaning employees—while embarking on a journey toward self-healing.

The ensemble cast includes stellar performances from Maria Frankis, Sylvain Plasse, Nosa Obaseki, and Ifeanyi Ogwo, whose emotional portrayals resonated deeply with the audience. Attendees left the premiere praising Patricia Bebia Mawa’s masterful direction and the film’s relatable and powerful themes.
