The 2024 Eid-el-Kabir will be held on Sunday, June 16, after the Saudi Arabian authorities declared Friday the first day of Dhul Hijjah.

The month is the 12th and last month in the Islamic calendar during which the hajj is performed.

Expectedly Arafat Day, an essential part of the hajj ritual, will be held on Saturday, June 15, with Eid-el-Kabir celebrations to follow on Sunday, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto has congratulated Nigerian Muslims ahead of the Eid.

This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council, Sambo Junaid, in Sokoto.

”His Eminence, the Sultan felicitates with Nigeria’s Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings,” Junaid said in the statement.

“The Sultan while urging the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace, progress and development of the country also wishes all Muslims a Happy Eid-El-Kabir. May Allah (SWT) accept our religious deeds, amen”, the Sultanate council said in the statement.
