Fire, on Monday, reportedly gutted a section of the Eleme Local Government Area (LGA) secretariat in Rivers State.
The explosion and inferno which had sparked fears of possible violence across the state came barely 48 hours after local government elections.
Chairman, Brain Gokpa with councillors and supporters, arrived at the LG secretariat and discovered that some buildings in the complex were on fire.
The police were yet to release any statement on the development at press time
The incident occurred a day after the winners of the controversial Rivers local government elections by the Action Peoples Party (APP) were sworn in.
