Onyeka Onwenu buried in Lagos

Today, the Nigerian music industry mourns the loss of one of its most iconic figures, Onyeka Onwenu.
The “Elegant Stallion,” as she was affectionately known, was laid to rest after a touching funeral service at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos.
Onwenu, who passed away on July 30 at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja, left an indelible mark on Nigerian music. She was 72 years old.
Her powerful voice, captivating stage presence, and socially conscious lyrics resonated with generations of fans.
The funeral service was a solemn occasion, attended by family, friends, and colleagues from the entertainment industry.

Family and friends gathered at the ebony vaults, Ikoyi to pay their last respect to the Music Icon before she was finally laid to rest.

Onyeka Onwenu is survived by her two sons.
