As the clock ticks down to the highly anticipated protest scheduled for this weekend, the Nigerian capital of Abuja has transformed into a virtual fortress, with a massive deployment of police and military personnel patrolling major areas.

With just 72 hours to go before the demonstration, the city is on high alert, with security forces visible at every turn, their presence a stark reminder of the government’s determination to maintain law and order.

An eyewitness noted that “The military Hilux departing Wuse through Berger to Jabi axis is about six police vans; four Civil defence (Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and one road safety (Federal Road Safety Corps) Hilux.”

Another hinted that, “From Deidei to Dutse also there is also a military presence.There is also unlabeled hilux, I don’t know the name of that security outfit, but security personnel are inside.”

At Lokogoma, military patrol vehicles were also sighted.
