The Chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Lagos Chapter, Pastor Yemi Davies, has emphasized that the mantra ‘New Dawn’ of the PFN starts with the leadership, adding that this was what gave birth to the just concluded Lagos Pastors and Ministers conference, a programme dedicated to leadership development, spiritual growth, and community outreaches.

The programme which took place at the Household of David, Ikeja, Lagos, according to him was also aimed at strengthening pastoral network, boost church effectiveness and unite diverse churches in the body of Christ.

“We gathered here today as leaders representing various provinces including pastors not yet in PFN to talk to ourselves, encourage ourselves and see how we can align with the new dawn mentality.

“This type of meeting that also has to do with reconciliation through love will continue and take place at the next Easter Sunday when Christians will gather together.

“We are called to be the light of the world and get rid of darkness and we appreciate the governor Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu who is trying his best,” he said.

The chairman reiterated that the time has come for the church to stand as the light of the world and salt of the earth and in doing this, less priority should be given to titles while focus should be shifted on impacting lives.

Davies also noted that time has come for everyone to examine himself and if discovered to be wounded, should be allowed to be healed by God instead of vising the pains on others, adding that the call in the circumstance is to the government, the Church and the home.

One of the speakers at the conference, Televangelist Apostle Joshua Selman, called on the Church to wake up to her responsibility as he declared that statistically, about 8.1 billion people are in the world with only about 2.1 billion claiming to be Christians, meaning that the work is still much as far as evangelisation of the world is concerned.

He urged leaders to ensure that as they are called, they are also transformed to be able to be effective in the business of getting unbelievers born again and making them disciples.

“Three main tasks are before the Church which are world evangelisation, discipleship and territorial transformation,” he said.

Selman warned Church leaders on the type of believers they are building, noting that a new believer should not be fed with the teaching of prosperity, otherwise he or she would be destroyed.

He also itemised three important teachings as Historical, Doctrinal and Personal as he stressed that personal teaching or personal dealing with God is for individuals which should not be communicated to others.

He called on the government to, without delay, influence its relevant agencies saddled with the responsibility of restoring hope to the youth to come up with similar programmes as a lot of youth who are the future of the country have been wounded and need to be healed.
