Adeleke sets up panel Esa Oke, Ayegunle chieftaincy dispute

Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved the constitution of a panel of inquiry on the recent chieftaincy dispute involving Esa Oke and Ido Ayegunle towns of Obokun Local Government of Area of Osun State.
The governor promised to set up the committee when he visited Esa Oke and Ido Ayegunle during recent communal clashes, Adeleke’s spokesperson Olawale Rasheed said in a statement.
The panel is to be chaired by the Special Adviser to the Governor on House of Assembly Matters, Ropo Oyewole.
Other members of the panel include the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Samuel Ojo; a representative of the permanent secretary, Ministry of Justice, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Regional Integration, Mr. M.O Oyedeji; Director, staff Welfare, Public service office, Mr. J. Amusan.
The Deputy Director, Chieftaincy Affairs, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs Adeola Ajekigbe, is to serve as the panel secretary.
The terms of reference of the panel include among others the determination of the remote and immediate causes of the crisis which broke out on January 30, 2025, immediately after the state executive council approved the appointment of Prince Oluwatimileyin Oluyemi Ajayi as the Olojudo of Ido-Ayegunle in Obokun local Government.
It also includes recommending to government measures to bring about lasting peace and assess the damages to both towns and recommend remediation measures.
The panel is expected to submit its recommendations within two after its inauguration, scheduled for March 4, 2025, at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Osogbo.
